What a wonderful corner of the Brooklyn landscape! With morning sunlight playing across the enormous masonry walls of the Manhattan Bridge anchorage, the contrasts of huge and small, light and shadow are irresistible. Just a few years ago this was a busy but drab industrial streetscape; today it's a kind of tourist mecca, with a brand-new waterfront park you can just make out around the base of the tower.
Peter Salwen's light-filled urban landscapes are in collections across the U.S., Europe and South America. Salwen's paintings, he says "try to express the deep pleasure to be found in something as simple as sunlight on a wall or the ordinary traffic of people and machinery at city street corner.
