Artist's Description
This recent Cape Cod watercolor shows a popular family-owned Jamaican restaurant on Shank Painter Road in Provincetown. The owner, Natessa Flowers, came to the Cape from Jamaica in 1998 and worked for over 10 years with her mother in the kitchen at Clem & Ursie’s, a beloved seafood place that used to be just up the road. She opened Irie Eats in 2014, offering classic Caribbean food and a big helping of down-home atmosphere for Provincetown's thriving Jamaican community. It also gets rave reviews from tourists and other locals. In case you were wondering, "Irie" (say "AYE-ree") is an evocative Rasta term that signifies "cool" (literally, "all right") with overtones of warmth, blessings & peaceful vibrations.

Salwen's paintings, he says "try to express the deep pleasure to be found in something as simple as sunlight on a wall or the ordinary traffic of people and machinery at city street corner.
