Another of those scenes that sort of paint themselves; all I did, basically, was hold the brush. Driving north from San Luis Obispo, this dramatic little mountain beckoned me off the highway, where I spent a happy, nearly solitary couple of hours painting it from a quiet dirt road. A young girl and her grandmother, who passed by a couple of times with their dog, told me its name -- and that (so typical of California) it was privately owned & closed to strangers.
