Artist's Description

In late April and early May, parts of Central Park are decked with brilliant pink when the cherry trees come into bloom. The trees are descendants of the 2,500 cherry trees presented to the city by Japan as a friendship gift in 1912. These are on the northwest side of the reservoir, but they say one of the original 1912 trees may still be alive near the East 90th Street entrance, and I hope to hunt it up and paint it next spring.
