Artist's Description
Despite the ceaseless crowds, Bryant Park feels like a welcoming urban oasis, especially when the afternoon light plays over the crowds, the bubbling water and the grand leafy plane trees. I especially like the way the warm light brightens the deep brown granite of the amazing Josephine Shaw Lowell Memorial Fountain on the western terrace. This is one of five canvases from August 2014, commissioned by the Bryant Park Corporation as part of their Painter-in-Residence program. All were started on-site and completed in the studio.
