Another plein air watercolor from last summer's camping trip on the Cape. (Happily, the bus stop right across the road has a wide bench, perfectly positioned for visiting artists!) This recently renovated ~170-year-old general store, known for generations as "Dutra's Market," is a neighborhood favorite and a boon to nearby vacationers. According to local UFOlogists, it's also the spot where a young Air Force pilot, Bob Matthews, was briefly abducted by aliens in 1966.
Peter Salwen's light-filled urban landscapes are in collections across the U.S., Europe and South America. Salwen's paintings, he says "try to express the deep pleasure to be found in something as simple as sunlight on a wall or the ordinary traffic of people and machinery at city street corner.
