Thanks to the Zabar family, whose celebrated food shop has grown to fill more than half a city block, the west side of Broadway between West 80th and 81st Streets is one of the neighborhood's great spaces for people-watching.

Peter Salwen's light-filled urban landscapes are in collections across the U.S., Europe and South America.
