Early this summer, I found that driving California's scenic Highway One was very much a stop-and-go proposition. Nothing to do with traffic, though. It was just that every turn in the road revealed one amazing vista after another, like this one somewhere near Ragged Point. The deep, almost blackish green foliage of the nearby pines was set off against a vaporous seascape of a startling jewel-like greenish blue. Emerald? Turquoise? You decide.
