A quiet moment in Cafe 82, a favorite local hangout at 2282 Broadway (at -- you guessed it --
West 82nd Street) that's usually bustling with friends and neighbors. This was a rare quiet moment on a winter morning, with just a handful of customers inside, snug & well-cared-for, while the passers-by outside are contending with the cold wind and snow.

Peter Salwen's light-filled urban landscapes are in collections across the U.S., Europe and South America. Salwen's paintings, he says "try to express the deep pleasure to be found in something as simple as sunlight on a wall or the ordinary traffic of people and machinery at city street corner.
